User-centered content wins the vote at the twice-a-year Product Camp Austin unconference. Participants vote on the proposed content and how it is pitched. If participants don't find the 30-second pitch relevant, they won't vote for it. I have pitched four times and been selected to speak each time.
We were limited to 10 unique slides. I favored graphics in my Design Thinking slide deck. I drove points home with war stories. I copied graphics from the web to create a raw, authentic feeling aligned with the unconference. If I were presenting at a polished conference, I would have used a polished deck.
